

Geronimo P. Jocson was known to his family and friends as “Gerry.” He was born to David Ponco Jocson and Estella Pecson Jocson on May 1, 1946 in Quezon City, Philippines. He was the eldest of four boys. His family spent his elementary years in Amalbalan, Dasol, Pangasinan and eventually moved to Manila for his high school and college years. He attended high school at University of Santo Tomas and National University for his higher education in civil engineering.
Through mutual friends, Gerry met his wife Lourdes and soon became fast friends. The friendship blossomed into a romance, which they decided to elope and were civilly married on December 22, 1965. They Gerry and Lourdes eventually married in a church on January 7, 1966.
To support his growing family, Gerry worked for David Mendoza Consunji Incorporated (DMCI) for a few years performing construction work. With a wife and son in tow, Gerry then worked for another construction company in Hanoi, Vietnam. While there, he built roads and bridges. After a few years, the family eventually moved back to the Philippines and settled in Quezon City. Gerry soon acquired a new job that which required him to travel and live in Saudi Arabia. He held this job for a number of years until his family obtained the opportunity to come to the United States of America.
Gerry’s family emigrated toarrived to the US in 1983 and first settled in Mountain View, California, but made San Jose his forever home. No job was ever too small for Gerry. He began work as a clerk at 7-Eleven. Ironically, he was dedicated to 7-Eleven and frequented this establishment to buy his weekly lotto and scratchers tickets. He remained a loyal patron to the very end. He maintained this job until he could obtain better opportunities with Signetics Corporation, Cintas Corporation, and Western Digital, where he worked as a plant maintenance engineer and met many lifelong good friends.
Geronimo P. Jocson passed away on January 25, 2018 in San Jose, California. He is survived by his loving wife Lourdes. His children: Alex Jocson (wife: Christine; daughters: Maya, Miranda, Katherine), Marie Fernandez (children: Ronniel, Audrey, Erin), Jean Soliven (husband: Jed; sons: Erik, Noah, Lucas), Jason Jocson (partner: Ramon), Billy Jocson, Joshua Jocson, and Richard Mangisel.
