Hoan graduated in Vietnam with a BA degree at Dalat Catholic university. He taught at high school in Cam Ranh, Vietnam until 1975.
In June 1975, Hoan emigrated to the United States as a refugee and started a new life, residing in Oakland, California.
Hoan met and married Truong Thi Ngoc Tra in 1984 and settled in Hayward, California.
He was a long standing church member and very active at his church, serving as a member of the leadership team of VN community at St. Lawrence O’Toole. Hoan was also an Eucharistic Minister and member of Men of Sacred Heart of Jesus Association. Hoan was a well spoken speaker and he often was a Lector at church services.
Hoan was blessed with 2 boys, Michael Nguyen and Bob Nguyen.
He was also beloved by his grandchildren: Sophie, Rosie, Nathan and Vernon Nguyen. Hoan loved being a grandfather and doted on his grandkids. He had the opportunity to spend quality time and shared numerous experiences with them.
Hoan had a large family and they will all miss him dearly.
