

Jafenia was born on July 17, 1943 in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, to the late Patricio U. Felix, Sr. and Martina U. Felix. She attended Pasuquin Provincial High School, graduating in 1959. Jafenia then enrolled in Philippine Normal College in Manila, Philippines, earning her degree in teaching. She became a school teacher in the town of Alabang, Philippines.
Jafenia arrived in the United States in 1969 and resided in Port Orchard, Washington and the San Francisco Bay Area. She enjoyed the sense of community and security living in close proximity with relatives.
In the early 1970s, Jafenia worked for Hilton Hotel and later Hyatt Hotel where she was promoted to hotel management in 1984. She was involved in the hiring department of the company. Jafenia was in charge of many projects over the course of her career, including the opening of new hotels in cities throughout the United States. She retired in 2005.
Jafenia was fascinated with the Hawaiian culture and she taught herself to play the ukulele. She had a natural musical talent and she entertained many visitors in her home and at picnics with traditional Philippine folk songs.
She was an avid gardener and every Fall season, she proudly harvested tomatoes, squash, tangerines and persimmon.
Jafenia enjoyed watching sports on television, especially basketball and football and the Olympics. She was an enthusiastic San Francisco 49ers football fan. Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and American Idol were her favorite TV game shows. She was also very fond of cooking shows.
Jafenia was preceded in death by her parents: Patricio Sr. and Martina - and her siblings: Ederlina, Rosita, Patricio Jr., Anuevo, Andronico, Domingo, Santos, and Femelia.
Jafenia is survived by her elder sister Remedios Eduria and many nieces and nephews.
Jafenia will be remembered, by all who knew her, as pleasant, open, friendly and kind. An honest woman living a simple life. She will be missed more than words can describe and she will remain forever in our hearts.
