Joseph Clark Nicholas, 83, of San Leandro, died June 22, 2013.
He was born to the late Jose and Juana Nicholas, August 6, 1929, in Oakland. Joseph graduated from St. Joseph High School in Alameda. He was a Korean War veteran, having served as a marine and received two Purple Hearts. He lived in San Leandro for 50 years.
Joseph worked for the railroad for 35 years. He was an active member of St Leander Church. Joseph was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend, and he will be missed by all.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rita Nicholas. He is survived by four children: Carol, Steve, Tom and Larry. He is survived by six grandchildren: Eric, Jason, Amanda, Jolene, Lindsay and Kevin. He is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Sophia.
Visitation will be 4-7 pm at Dignity San Leandro Funeral Home 407 Estudillo Ave., with a Rosary at 7 pm. A Mass of Celebration will be at St. Leander Church at 1:30 on Monday, July 1st.
