Laura Lynn Cisneros passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday February 27th after her longest marathon yet - pancreatic cancer. She spent Saturday with her mother and sisters; and the hours before she went to sleep with her husband of 26 years and three daughters. The family wishes to express appreciation to family, friends and various running group friends who were so helpful and motivational to Laura during her illness.
Laura was born April 12, 1962 to Arthur and Lucy (Bernal) Cisneros in Oakland, California. She was the second of four daughters born to the couple. She was the 19th of 24 first cousins and absolutely adored by all.
Laura was raised in Hayward, California. After graduating from Moreau Catholic High School, Laura graduated from Cal State Hayward with bachelor’s degree and later earned a master’s degree from Golden Gate University. Laura started her career with the IRS and KPMG and later transitioned her career to the financial services industry.
Laura was married to George Famalett and had three daughters – Isabella, Serena, and Sofia. Laura is also survived by her mother Lucy Cisneros and three sisters Lisa Cisneros, Christina DeLoach, and Carol Bumgardener.
Laura was passionate about family in every sense of the word. She was engaged on every event, school activity, birthday and holiday with her family and children. Laura loved her children deeply. She was a proud parent and enjoyed her daughter’s milestones and accomplishments in life. Laura also had a lifelong passion for running which took her to many cities and states to run in many half or full marathons over many years. Even while fighting an aggressive illness she managed to find the strength to train and run half marathons in the San Francisco and Chicago marathons. Laura was also a dedicated pet owner and loved her dogs Harley, Sierra and Holly and cat Hunter. Laura’s passion for everything she did touched all of us and will be missed.
