

Lee Scott entered into eternal rest on the morning of Monday January 17, at the age of 87. Lee passed away at his home in Fremont, California. Lee was the youngest of four children born to Andrew and Carol Scott in Villisca, IA. Lee will be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand, being a strong Union supporter, but most of all his smile and good nature.
Lee grew up on farms around Villisca, IA. He rode his pony, to the one room schoolhouse. He started school one year early to avoid it closing due to low enrollment. At Villisca High Lee played Football as a guard, Basketball and ran the 100 yd Dash in Track, FFA and made many lifelong friends.
Lee served in the US Navy in 1952 to 1955. He achieved the rank of Radarman 2nd class (E-5). He served during the Korean War (June-1950 to July 1955) and was deployed on the USS Mount McKinley (AGC-7), which was an amphibious flagship. He was on board 10 miles from a nuclear blast during Operation Wigwam, which was an underwater nuclear test. His family has a long history of military service going back to William Brenton, a spy in the Revolutionary War.
Lee & Carolyn were married in 1953, in Savannah, MO. Together they raised 3 children, Diane, Denise & Kirk. Lee lived in Milpitas, CA for 51 years until he moved to Fremont in 2016. The Scott’s were members of Sunnyhills United Methodist Church from 1964-2016. Before the pandemic Lee participated in Sunday services and Bible Studies with Chaplin’s Thom & Sara Croy at Cogir. He was a member of The American Legion and the Vintage Mustang Owners Association. With his wife, Carolyn they belonged to The USS Mt. McKinley Reunion Association and traveled to reunions around the U.S. They loved to dance and were long standing members of Merry Mates, friends who went Ballroom dancing. Lee & Carolyn are dancing again in Heaven.
Lee is survived by his sibling Betty Russell and his devoted children Diane (Bob); Denise (Marcos); Kirk (Karen). Grandchildren Nathan (Aimee), Kyle (Annalynn), Elisabeth (Nicholas), Nicholas (Mary) and Andy (Jamie). Great grandchildren Aiden & Mara Lynn, Silas, Juliana & Nico, Brennan and Adley. Lee was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, his parents Andrew & Carol, brothers Wayne and Wesley, daughter Deberal and daughter-in-law Tami.

Funeral Services will be held Monday February 14 starting at 12pm with visitation, Chapel Service beginning at 1pm at Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary, 48800 Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont, CA 94539, 408-263-2868. Live Streaming will be available for those unable to attend; ask a family member for the link. Interment Cedar Lawn Memorial Park at 2pm. Masks are required.
