

Mary passed away peacefully on June 18, 2014 at the age of 89. She is survived by Her Sister- Catherine Marquand of Ontario Canada, Her Son & Daughter In law - Wayne and Karen Gibson of New Mexico, Her Daughter & Son in law –Kathy and Bill Bailey of California, All her 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Her many extended family of sister and brother in law, nieces and nephews and cousins, from all over the US, Canada and Scotland.
Mary was born to Scottish parents who immigrated to Canada, she was born in Toronto Canada and was prematurely born in 1925, weighing only 2 pounds, fed with eye dropper and was kept warm by the oven in their home in those days. She grew up in Port Credit, Ontario, and graduated high school (all 4yrs) in a 2 year span. She worked for the war effort in Toronto, where she met her future husband through mutual friends. She married her American Army Air Corp soldier (Victor Gibson) in 1943 in Toronto Canada, she had to endure her husband being missing in action for 2 months and being shot out his plane twice.
She left her family and home to come to the US and become a naturalized citizen, here they started their life together and started a family in Michigan.
In 1963 they moved their family to San Jose, California, where she started working in the Electronic industry for many years, then moved to Milpitas Ca in 1971. She loved doing sewing, ceramics, music, and having family gatherings. In 1978 she became the caregiver to her husband of 43 years until his passing in 1986.
In 1990 she remarried her second husband (Jim Pitts) they lived in Milpitas at Pioneer Mobile Home Park. She became the assistant manager and retired from there at age 77. She loved working with the residences and visiting with them regularly. She again became a caregiver to her second husband in late 1990’s until his passing in 2006.
In 2007 she made her choice to move to senior residences in Milpitas at Terrace Gardens and then to assisted living residence at Merrill Gardens/Emeritus of Fremont. Here is where she lived until her passing. Through all her life, she has been there to help her family, extended family, friends and still battling her own health problems. She was a very loving caring person to all who knew her and an amazing role model for all of us. May she rest in peace…
