

Melba Barabin Lewis Rochon was born on November 27, 1922 and departed this earth on August 26, 2012. Melba was raised in Franklin, Louisiana and met her 1st husband Samuel Lewis (deceased) in New Orleans. They married in 1944 and moved to San Francisco, California in 1947. From that union their were three children; Samuel Don Lewis, Capperine Lewis, and Al John Lewis (Blanca). In her later years she remarried her childhood friend, Robert Rochon (deceased) from New Iberia, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roman Barabin and Fannie Colbert Barabin, her siblings Irene McGaugh, Clarence Barabin and Phyllis Diane Hill. She leaves to mourn her loss, her grandchildren, Al Lewis Jr., Kaida Lewis, Kimberly Lewis, Samuel Don Lewis Jr., Brandon Lewis, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, step children and friends. Melba lived a full and rich life; she was employed by the Unted States Postal Service for 21 years where she retired. She was an active member of St. Leander Catholic Church. She was always connected to her Louisiana roots and was Vice President of the Louisiana Franklin Social Club in the bay area for 17 years. All her life she was the family care giver and nurturer. She believed family should stick together and was the rock and heart of her family. She was instrumental in raising her sister, children, and grandchildren. She provided loving care for her sister Irene and her brother Clarence during their terminal illnesses. She loved life, her family unconditionally, and she had a deep abiding faith in God. She will be missed by all she leaves behind
