On the afternoon of January 3, 2025, Norman Dennis Abella passed away peacefully at the age of 71. He was born on April 25, 1953, in Caloocan, Philippines to Gene and Loretta Abella. He was the third of six children, with 4 sisters (Nilda Agnes, Lilli Nanette, Ginna Marisse and Lizza Charisse) and one brother (Gene Norris). Dennis, as he is called by his family members and friends, graduated high school from Jose Abad Santos Memorial School (JASMS) in 1970 and attended the University of the Philippines, then transferred to the National College of Business and Arts.
In 1977, Dennis, together with sisters Nanette and Marisse, immigrated to the United States and joined Nilda Agnes who was taking up her medical residency in New York at that time. Dennis remained in New York until 1984 when he relocated with his family to San Jose, California, to join his siblings who previously moved there four years before.
Dennis was an avid reader and would put his expansive vocabulary on display whenever he played on-line scrabble or solved crossword puzzles, which he loved to do in his spare time. He also loved to crack jokes and will be remembered for his sharp wit and playful humor.
Dennis is survived by his son, Norman Francis, and five siblings. He was preceded in death by his loving parents.
