So many good memories...her peach cobbler, hearing her yell "JOHN"! over the fence, her quest for self improvement and growth, her favorite saying 'be kind', her laugh, her reply when our side garage doors would be open and I would greet her 'good morning Rose, how are you?' and her response, "I'm alive!!!!" said with a hearty laugh!   Hearing the clicking clack of her practicing her tap dancing in her garage; our annual garage sales, our summer neighbor gatherings in their back yard, our Christmas house hopping and singing with my player piano, Rose and John's love and interest in my children and them becoming "Nana Rose" and "Bapa John", dinners at Denny's, milestone anniversary celebrations, pinochle at their kitchen table, going to SIRS lunches, hearing how proud they were of Jonathan, and most of all, feeling loved by Rose, a neighbor who became family

“Move forward”

Two simple, yet wise words from my grandmother.

It’s hard to make a post like this, because no written words can come close to explaining the impact you have had on my life.

You taught me how to make a bed and do laundry…

You exposed me to the power of positive thinking in all situations.

You endured so much, yet always loved and never held resentments.

You believed in me and supported me far before many others did.

You showed me the value of self-education over formal education.

I was making dinner at my parents house and saw a knife in the drawer…

As a kid, I loved to cook… I was always reading recipe blogs and watching videos…

I remember looking at that knife and wanting it so bad…

My grandmother who was in that store walked over, and without hesitation got the knife for me…

It’s not really about the knife… it’s the fact that even though I was a kid, she invested in my dreams.

She saw a bigger vision before I did, and taught me the optimism I needed to persist.

When I was really young, I used to hide in the closet to sneak up on her and give her a hard time…

But sometimes when I was in there I would here her saying positive affirmations in the mirror…

I didn’t understand it at the time… but I sure do now.

No matter what she faced, she stayed positive and kept love and kindness in her heart.

I love you grandmother. I miss you, but we will see each other soon.

My father and mother Robert and Esther Perez, lived across the road from John and Rose for over 50 years. Rose was a sweet and lovely woman who always seemed so positive and warm.  May the Lord bless you for all your kindness and Love. 

Such a joy to have had Rosella and John in my life for so long. They were the essence of two people who loved each other and those they knew. My love to the family...John, you had quite a wife!

Rose and John were our neighbors for 43 years and became family to us.  They were known as "Nana Rose and Bapa John" to our kids, Lauren and RJ.   I have so many fond memories of our times together...progressive Christmas dinner parties with our neighbors, summer barbeques, annual garage sales, trip to Tahoe, anniversary celebration at a Greek restaurant with Rose telling her story of marrying a 'Greek God', hearing the clicking of her tap shoes in her garage, many nights of playing pinochle and having Rose's home made peach cobbler and lemonade.  I admired her quest for learning, self improvement and stressing importance for people to 'be kind'.    She loved to laugh and to celebrate others in their special milestones in life.  They attended graduations and weddings...Rose and John were the last couple left on the dance floor at our son's wedding reception with the title of 'longest married couple!  My granddaughters loved visiting them and Rose gave them each a doll from her doll collection.  I will miss her youthful spirit...I can see her in heaven deciding what fancy patterns to select for her manicure.  I think she should choose angels and hearts!  I will love you forever and miss you even more...so grateful to have had you in our lives!!   

Rose was the most positive human being we ever knew.! The times we spent with her were the most beautiful , endearing moments.  She loved music, dance and was the most charming lady I ever knew.  She was always well dressed, fond of  different colored hair bands, and most of all her well manicured hands and feet. She would always laugh off things in a light hearted manner and sure knew how to live and love life! 
Rose:  you will always be remembered and have a special place in our heart!! 

Rosella was a true charm to me.  I have known both John and Rosella for close to 30 years, starting with a business relationship and now a very personal one.  Rosella was always so happy and in a great mood, very generous and hospitable.  I will miss her constant smile and laugh.  Very Truly, Jeff Welch.

This is not my direct memory, but the fondness in which my mother spoke of her Aunt Rose and Uncle Manuel, along with the great times she had visiting them as a young girl. Gemmie Diehl's memory is having a few challenges in her later years, but she instantaneously knew Aunt Rose when we had to discuss her passing. She was a great lady that made all her families lives happier. May she rest in everlasting peace! 

I was honored to meet Rosella and service her home care needs for approximately three months. What a beautiful woman inside and out. She was kind, gracious, and always thanked me and my caregivers for taking care of her. One of her noted statements when asking how she felt. She would pause and say, "I'm just getting old." She never complained and always had a smile for us. She loved sweets; especially cookies and ice cream. She was a jewel in more ways than one.  For me, she'll be remembered as one of my favorites. I have so many  fond memories of my Aunt Rose.  She was beautiful inside and out.  I always loved to visit her and Uncle Manuel, knowing I would have many laughs, lots of fun and love.  She woke up every morning happy and singing.  The song that comes to mind is”You are the sunshine of my life”.  And she did bring sunshine to MY life! 
She loved going shopping and we went to every mall from San Jose to San Francisco!  She taught me “how” to shop, showing me the difference of which is the better buy!   When I needed her advice, she was my shoulder to cry on.  I’m missing her but I know she has her Angel Wings on and her high heels and is out shopping at the Mall in Heaven .  I won’t ever forget you, Aunt Rose.  I love you!  Sallie Pat

Rosella Josephine, 98, of 2845 Ronco Drive, San Jose, California, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 9:15 a.m. at home.

Mrs. Pantalis was born July 12, 1923, in Hillsboro, Illinois and was the daughter of Paul and Ursula (Kastolic) Blazich.  She married John Pantalis on January 15, 1949 in Phoenix, Arizona and was married almost 73 full years. John still survives.

Rosella was a Navy wife and travelled the world with her husband and family.  She lived in Illinois, Tennessee, Arizona, Hawaii, Guam, and finally settled in the Silicon Valley of California in 1962.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her only child and son, Timothy (wife Sherry) Pantalis of Scottsdale, Arizona; 1 grandchildren, Jonathan Pantalis; one sister, Betty Mae Franzen of Nokomis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Blazich Jr. and Elbin F. "Beanie" Blazich.
