Ruth Claire Hambrick was born to Roy Albert and Hazel Francies on May 26, 1934, in San Francisco, California. The family lived in Redwood City for a few years before settling in Oakland. In Oakland she attended public schools which included Frick Junior High and Castlemont High School. Through mutual friends from Castlemont High, Ruthie and Roy Hambrick met and fell in love. They were married soon after in Reno, Nevada, on July 5, 1952. Their family quickly grew to include four children…Steven Pete, Michael, Linda Susan and Martin Jay. Ruthie and Roy were constant companions until Roy passed away just a few months short of their 50th wedding anniversary. Together they enjoyed family campouts, spending time with PoPo and Granny at the East Bay Watershed Dam, countless trips to Reno, four cruises with various friends, and fishing on charters and in their boats…The Bucket and The Enterprise. They especially enjoyed every Holiday with their children and grandchildren. Grammy, as she was known to her grandchildren, made a traditional linguica dinner at New Year’s which was a family favorite. She had a wonderful, infectious laugh and she and Roy were often referred to as the “life of the party.” She thoroughly enjoyed her pets and always signed her greeting cards “Grammy and TeeTee,” drawing her kitties in as stick figures. Ruth enjoyed the simple things in life. She took pride in her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments. Ruth enjoyed numerous trips with her daughter Linda and frequent visits from her son Steven. She had a kind word for everyone. She is preceded in death by her father Roy Albert, her mother Hazel, her husband Roy, and sons Michael and Martin. She is survived by her son Steven, daughter Linda, brother Roy, daughter- in-law Margaret, grandchildren Gregg, Jim, Shane, Martin, step grandchildren Phillip, Jennifer, Stephanie and many great grandchildren.
