

He was born in Mishawaka to Arthur and Susanna (Tydgat) DeMaegd on March 28, 1936.
Carl was married to Rita (DeWitte) DeMaegd for over 60 years. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
In 1983 Carl retired from Mishawaka’s Ball-Band Factory later known as U.S. Rubber and then Uniroyal Corp. where he was employed along with his parents.
After retirement, Carl used his prodigious green thumb to grow delicate orchids, vibrant dahlias and six foot tall asparagus. He enjoyed walking half a block to visit Shiojiri Niwa garden in Merrifield Park, often picking weeds and trimming shrubbery in the peaceful setting of this traditional Japanese garden. He was a member of the Mishawaka Garden Club and the Michiana Corvette Club.
Carl is survived by his son Eugene (Kelly) DeMaegd; son John (Gwen) DeMaegd and grandsons Forrest (Monica) Mendelsohn, Daniel DeMaegd and Joseph (Hannah) DeMaegd.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
