Kate was born on June 23, 1957 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Donald and Maxine (Daglow) Shook.
She grew up in Montgomery, Michigan, and attended Reading High School.
Kate married Michael Thatcher on September 22, 1995 in Angola, Indiana.
She loved camping, gardening, sprint car racing, restoring antiques, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Thatcher, Jimmerson Lake, Fremont, Indiana, daughters, Stephanie Lynd of Reading, Michigan, and Kaitlin (Jacob Gersbacher) Thatcher of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, Nicole (Randy) Beck of DeBary, Florida, and Chelsea Bennett of Hamilton, Indiana, grandchildren, Logan, Cara, Alexa, Allie, Taylor, Jake, Kaleigh, Kaden, and Kyle, sisters, Vicki DeVres of Mattawan, Michigan and Jackie (Dennis Stukey) Shook of Montgomery, Michigan, and Brian “Scott”(Melinda) Shook of Fremont, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Shook, a sister, Rose Langston, and a brother, Donald Shook, Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Montgomery Legion Post # 156, 964 East McCollum Street, Montgomery, Michigan.
Burial will be at a later time at Fremont Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.
