

Don was born in Defiance, Ohio on June 26, 1950.
After attending school in Bryan, he joined and served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. He worked most of his life as a salesman, representing several companies including, Pepsi and Hostess Breads, and later retiring from Interstate Brands.
He married Arlinda Dale (Miller) on July 7, 2004, at Quincy, Michigan, and they later settled near Pleasant Lake.
Don enjoyed racing stock cars, and raced at tracks in Bryan and Montpelier, Ohio, Quincy, Michigan, and Angola, Indiana, and he loved going to car shows. He was a handy man, and was good at using his hands and tools, he liked working on anything mechanical, especially motors, and also was very good at doing plumbing and home projects. He had a knack for talking with folks, and was just an all- around people person, and over the years was always able to find different sales jobs easily that interested him. He also was a former member of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257.
Survivors include his wife, Arlinda Dale Bowers of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, his children, Michelle (Stephen) Alexander of Reading, Michigan, Jason Donald Edward Bowers of Fremont, Indiana, Joshua (Mary) Bowers of Fremont, Indiana, Jamin Riley Bowers-Hoyt of Kendallville, Indiana, and Haley Bowers of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, seven grandchildren, Megan Alexander, Jeremiah Alexander, Jessika Smith, Jessica Alexander, “Buc” Norman Biggs, Joshua Alexander, Jennifer Alexander, Taylor Bowers, Aiden Bowers, and Aubrey Bowers, six great-grandchildren, Willow, Johnathon, Conner, Collin, Brooks, and Kailer, his mother and step-father, Wanda (Paxton) and Brittain Gordon of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, five sisters, Cindy (Jerry) Hesselschwardt of Ney, Ohio, Pam (Jim) Prince of Angola, Indiana, Debra (Bill) Robertson of Toledo, Ohio, Cindy Lee Kuebler of Toledo, Ohio, and Lanette (Lenny) Stamm of Toledo, Ohio, and three brothers, Robert L. (Tamara) Bowers of Ney, Ohio, Mike Gordon of Bryan, Ohio, and Larry Bowers of Toledo, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edward Bowers, a daughter, Theresa Jean Bowers, and two brothers, Seneca (Chris) Bowers and Jimmy Bowers.
Calling hours will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Monday, January 16, 2017, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Pastors George Foulk and Butch Rode officiating.
Mr. Bowers will be laid to rest at the Hill Side Cemetery at Pleasant Lake, Indiana. Military Honors will conclude the services at Hill Side Cemetery, provided by members of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257, and the Ft. Wayne Military Honor Team (US ARMY).
