George A. Rathbun

He was born on November 6, 1935 in Angola, Indiana, to Versel and Esther (Blauser) Rathbun.

George graduated from Fremont High School. He later served our Country in the United States Army.

After serving in the Army George worked for Aero Corporation in Angola, Indiana for many years.

He was a member of the Mongo United Methodist Church, and formerly was a member of the Lake Gage Church. George was a longtime member of the Orland American Legion Post # 423, and served in the military color guard for many years.

Survivors include his son, Brad Rathbun of Richmond, Indiana, step-children, Elizabeth (Carl) Coburn of Fremont, Indiana, Pam (John) Cox of Mancos, Colorado, Karen (Mike) Shoup of Angola, Indiana, Edith Walker of Indiana, Loretta (Danny) Stephens of Angola, Indiana, Donald (Bridgett) Imse of Fremont, Indiana, Jackie (Eric) Davis of Ravenna, Michigan, Paula McElwain of Sturgis, Michigan, and Dewy Imse of Fremont, Indiana, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, siblings, Sandra (Ronnie) Reed of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sue (Richard “Bart”) Hand of Medina, Ohio, Sally Walters of Paradise, California, and Sheila (Tom) Harrington of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and his dear friend, Kathy Yoder of Burr Oak, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy (Caswell) Rathbun, wife, Betty (Willms) Rathbun, and a brother, James Rathbun.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm Friday, September 21, 2018 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Rev. James D. Bartlett officiating. Military honors will be provided by members of the Orland American Legion color guard following the service.

Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11 am until 1 pm Friday, September 21, 2018 at Beams Funeral Home.

Burial will be held at a later time.
