

She was born in Angola, Indiana, on March 25, 1996.
She graduated from Angola High School in 2014. She has worked at Rise Inc., in Angola for the last two years.
She enjoyed participating in Special Olympics and the Girl Scouts of America. She liked dancing, flirting, making people smile, photos, magazines, scrapbooks that were made for her and friends at Rise. She loved to have her nails painted, loved her friends, and her brother’s and sister’s friends, loved to have her hair braided, loved her chickens and her pigs, loved her dog, Playboy, not so much Izzy, the new puppy, loved listening to music, loved to bowl, loved Special Olympics, and so much more. Mainly she was the Thief of Hearts.
Survivors include her mother, Kara Smith of Fremont, Indiana; sister, Dericca Kurtz of Angola, Indiana; brother, Brennen Kurtz of Angola, Indiana; stepbrother, Roy Henderson of Angola, Indiana grandparents, Diane Sumner of Auburn, Indiana, Rickie Smith of Indianapolis, Indiana, Paula and Neil Hesselsweet of Michigan, and Deb Whitaker of Angola, Indiana; great-grandfathers, Paul Oliver of Angola, Indiana, and Clyde Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana; uncles, Austin (Julie) Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Bobby Brown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Donny Henderson of Angola, Indiana; aunts, Andrea Brown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Becky (Brad) Wilcox of Angola, Indiana, and April (Walt) Merrick of Fremont, Indiana; and her fathers, Steve Kurtz of Angola, Indiana, and Roy Henderson, Fremont, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by Sharon “Granny” Oliver, Patricia Smith, and Bruce Westrick.
Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday Feb. 1, 2016, at Beams Funeral Home Fremont, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Beams Funeral Home, with Pastor David Leitzel officiating.
Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.
Memorials are requested in care of the family.
