We gather here today to honor the life of Thomas Allen Head—known to many as Allen—a son, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, and a friend.
Allen was a man of strength, grit, and deep conviction. Born Thomas Allen Dobbs, he carried many names and many responsibilities in his life, but wore them all with pride. He lived in the Fremont community for over 25 years, where he left not only roofs and buildings behind—but a legacy of hard work, generosity, and quiet faith.
As a roofer and contractor, Allen built more than homes—he built trust, relationships, and hope for those who needed it most. It didn’t matter if you could pay or not. If someone needed help, Allen helped. There are countless homes in this community that stand tall today because of the work of his hands and the compassion in his heart. He was a man who gave without expecting in return.
Allen could be callous at times. He didn’t sugarcoat things. He spoke plainly, worked hard, and held fast to what he believed was right. But beneath that rough exterior was a deep and abiding love—for his family, for his friends, and above all, for the Lord.
He lived with the truth of Proverbs 16:9 in his heart: "In a man's heart he plots his path, but the Lord directs his steps." And now, we take comfort in the words of 2 Corinthians 5:8, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Allen was not one to question God’s will. He understood the words from Isaiah: "Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’" He trusted the hands of the Potter, even when the road was hard.
Allen was the proud father of six children, and he leaves behind a lasting legacy in his nine grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shannon Head, their four children, and all nine grandchildren, his mother and four siblings who will carry his strength, his stubbornness, and his love into the future.
Though we mourn today, we also celebrate a life well lived. A life of purpose. A life that touched many more than can be counted.
The battle was won, when the soldier was lost. Rest well, Dad.
A Celebration of LIfe will be announced at a later time.
