

Dorothy Humbard, 89, of Fremont, and formerly of Kendall Park, NJ, passed away at her home surrounded by family, Saturday, March 19, 2016. She was born the daughter of Fred and Alice (Headley) Riley in Cambridge, Ohio on February 27, 1927. Dorothy was a graduate of Cambridge High School, and worked as a carhop at White Castle. She was also employed by Howard Johnson’s and Cambridge Glass, and volunteered at Our Lady of the Pines in Fremont. Dorothy loved doing ceramic art, puzzles, spending time with family, and participating in activities at Fort Stephenson Senior Center. She also enjoyed her daughter, Vickie’s, flower garden, and treating herself to a caramel frappe from McDonald’s.
Surviving are her sons, Kenneth (Kathy), Thomas (Dorita Steinle Snyder) of Fremont, daughter, Vickie (Paul) Nichitel of Kendall Park, NJ, grandchildren, May, Kyle, and Steven Humbard of Fremont, Luke (Angela) Humbard of Perrysburg, April (Joshua) Borden of Bordentown, NJ, Kenneth (Adam Dansby) Humbard of Wellington, FL, great-grandchildren, Emily Bendy and Natalie Humbard of Fremont, Tristan Borden of Bordentown, NJ., step-grandchildren, Briel Culbertson, Sean Burkin, Trischa (Mike) Chapman, Norah Chapman, Kyle (Ariann) Snyder, sisters and brothers Linda Volz, Lillie (Jim) McDonald, Peggy Moose, Dixie (Jim) Heddleson, Steve (Donna) Riley, sister-in-law Emilee Riley, all of Cambridge, OH, and Brodie (Roberta) of Auburn, CA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George H. Humbard, sisters June Rutter and Norma Gebhart, brother Dale Riley, and grandson Ryan Humbard.
Dorothy’s family would like to thank all of her aides, Terri Almaraz, Barb Cook, Marcia Elder, Becky Pence, Alenah Rocha, Christina Smith, Carmen Varga, Denise Wolf, and the late Angelita Zavala, and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 11am-2pm and 4pm-6pm at Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio 43420. A dinner and time of fellowship will follow at Crystal Arbors, 1800 E. State Street, Suite N, Fremont, Ohio, from, 6pm-8pm following visitation at the funeral home.
Additional visitation will follow on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 12pm-1pm at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, 120 N. 11th Street, Cambridge, Ohio, 43725. Services will start at 1pm at the funeral home following visitation.
Burial will follow at Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Northwest Ohio.
