
Joseph L. Schetter, 90, of Tiffin, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the St. Francis Home in Tiffin. He was born April 26, 1925 the son of Lewis A. and Stella M. (Tipton) Schetter. Joe was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during World War II from 1943-1945. He was a member of the 449th Bomb Group, 47th Wing as a Machine Gunner flying aboard the B-24 bomber “Touch Me Not”. Upon his return from the service he went to work for Floom Fleck and the former Mohawk Motors, now Central Transport.
Joe took great pride in the family farm, caring for his herd of Dairy cows and tending to the fields alongside his brother Lewis. He was a member of the Seneca Co. Farm Bureau and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by 14 nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lewis F. Schetter, Kenneth R. Schetter, his sister Stella Marie Smith and one nephew.
Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 A.M. on Friday, July 3, 2015 in the Chapel at St. Francis Home, 182 St. Francis Ave, Tiffin, Ohio followed by services beginning at 11:30A.M., officiated by Fr. Joseph Szybka. Burial will follow at Seneca Memory Gardens with Military Graveside Rights performed by the Seneca County Veterans Commission.
