
Although Abundio worked as a campesino for a good portion of his life, he retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1978 after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patrocina Balderas; his grandparents who raised him, Marcos and Bonifacia Balderas; his wife, Ramona P. Balderas; two sons, Abundio Jr. and Ezequiel "Zeke" Balderas; two daughters, Tomasita and Julia Balderas; and two sons-in-law, Valentin S. Hurtado and Jess M. Ortega.
He is survived by his daughters, Maria B. Hurtado and Jessie B. Ortega; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren with another on the way, and seven great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Andrew and John Hernandez and their wives.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Anthony Claret Catholic Church on Friday, February 22, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Belmont Memorial Park.
