Our dear mother, Agatha ("Aggie") Marie Jayne went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2023. She was born in Ellis, Kansas and was just weeks from reaching 92. She was the oldest of seven children and came to California with her family in her teens. She met and married a forestry worker named Harry Jayne while working at a diner and going to high school in Coalinga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Jayne. They had five children and were married for over 30 years. Her daughters, Jeannette Jayne and Baby Jayne preceded her in death.
She is survived by son, David Jayne (Carol Williamson), daughter, Roxann Campos (Mike Campos), daughter, Jenny Jayne (Jeff Church), and brother, Don Kozlowski. She is also survived by grandchildren, Michelle Walwrath, Neil Campos, Mason Campos, Matt Jayne and April Jayne and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Aggie was retired from the federal government after having been a U.S. mail carrier and working her way up to a supervisory position at the IRS. She was a hard-working beautiful woman with a strong presence and a kind heart. After her retirement, she volunteered her time at Valley Children's Hospital and Robinson Elementary until she was hired as a noontime assistant at Robinson. She was very active and did not like sitting around so she decided to go back to work at Manchester Gottschalks and stayed until it was closed. She then went to Macy's. She finally retired in her early 80's yet often said she still wanted a part-time office job. She attended church at St. Anthony of Padua as often as she could.
She loved people and people loved her. Aggie was always ready for a good prank. She dearly loved her family. She loved laughing, playing cards, family get togethers, and gambling trips. She was an excellent gardener and enjoyed making things and doing crafts. She was a spring blossom and very funny with a quick, sharp wit. She was the glue that held us together. We will miss her dearly, but we rejoice in knowing that she is with our Heavenly Father and His precious son, Jesus. Until we meet again.
A visitation for Agatha will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720. A rosary service will occur Monday, March 6, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua, 5770 N. Maroa Ave, Fresno, CA 93704. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at St Peters Cemetery, 264 N. Blythe Ave., Fresno, CA 93706.
