Armando T. Magallon was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on April 13th, 1941 to Carmen and Mariano Magallon, the oldest of 8 kids. Through early tough times he learned the definition of work ethic, honing his skills as a leather shoemaker at a young age in Mexico. Armando always sought to better his future and immigrated to the United States in the early 1960’s, looking to forge a better life.
He arrived in Los Angeles, CA and began work in a saddle making factory, continuing to improve his leather craft. Armando met the love of his life, Josefina, and quickly set out to raise a family.
As circumstance would have it, The Magallon Family left the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles in the late 80’s, and moved to the Central Valley foothills, settling in the tranquility of Prather, CA. Armando’s passion and skilled craft in leather compelled him to open his own shop, and thus, A & A Saddlery was born. He served the leather needs of the central valley until he retired in 2010.
Before the passing of his beloved Josefina in 2001, she promised to put in a good word for him with the man upstairs, hoping to reserve him a spot in the heavens. It must have been an arduous debate but on October 13th, 2020, Armando lost his battle with cancer and joined his beloved wife of 31 years. He died in his Sanger, CA home surrounded by loved ones.
His loss is felt by those he left behind including his children and their families, his siblings and their families, countless family members and those who had the privilege to know him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday October 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. St Mary’s Catholic Church, 12050 North Ave. Sanger, CA
