Arthur was a retired pastor-teacher.
He joined the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942 and served at Stockton Field at their advanced flying school. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He and his college sweetheart, Joy Waters, were married in March, 1943, and had two sons: Rev. Dr. Thomas Hale Mc Alpine, Rector, St. Peter Episcopal Parish in Ripon, Wisconsin and Dr. Timothy Gordon McAlpine a professor at Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, Kentucky. Joy McAlpine passed away in 1963. Arthur met Frances Farny at Mt. Hermon Christian Conference Grounds and they were married in August 1964.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mabel McAlpine; his sister, Marjorie Cardell; and his brother, Donald McAlpine.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Frances; his two sons, Thomas and his wife Elvice and their son Tommy, Timothy McAlpine and his wife Misuzu and their children Ken and Joy; his sister-in-law, Mary McAlpine; his niece, Martha Cardell; and his nephews Donald and Arthur Cardell.
