Bertha Montelongo Aviles, of Fresno, California passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family to be with Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Bertha was born Dec 15, 1930 in Durango, Mexico to Maria Ines Montelongo. She grew up in Dr Castillo del Valle and in 1963 she immigrated to the United States and lived in various cities in California until she made Fresno her permanent residence.
She is survived by her six children, daughters Maria Soto, Gloria Avila, Irma Soto, Yolanda Rodriguez, her sons Jesus Soto, and Luis Soto. Twenty six grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
A visitation for Bertha will be held Monday, August 12, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E Nees Ave, Fresno, California 93720. A recitation of the holy rosary will occur Monday, August 12, 2024 at 6:00 PM, at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home 836 E Nees Ave, Fresno, California 93720. A mass of Christian burial will occur Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Cathedral, 2814 Mariposa St, Fresno, California 93721. A committal service will occur Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
