She moved to Fresno at a young age with her parents, Charles and Helen Doty and 2 brothers and a sister. She lived in Fresno for her remaining years. She started her young working career at the Pacific Bell Telephone Company during World War 11. Dad was an Army veteran and station for a short time at the fairgrounds during World War II.
At a dance at the Rainbow Ballroom, she met the love of her life,William (Bill) Paniccia. They were married on February 1, 1945. Fresno. They were blessed to be together for 70 years before Bill passed away on February 15, 2016. She has really missed him since his passing 6 years ago.
Betty often reminded us about the Great Depression and what they had to give up during World War II. Her Father was a Navy Veteran during World War I and her oldest brother (Norm) was a Navy Veteran in World War II.
After being a "stay at home" Mother while her 3 children were growing Betty went to work at Fresno State University. She was there for 22 years. After retiring, she and Bill loved traveling in their RV and were able to visit almost every state in the US and Canada. They always loved playing golf and tried to play whenever and wherever they were. Betty always loved telling the cute story that she learned early in their marriage that if she wanted to spend time with Bill, she better learn how to play that silly "game of golf'.
She had a 14 handicap and played many different courses on their RV trips.
Betty was a loving Mother and taught her children to have compassion for others and worried about other people's feelings, saying the right things. Always stood up for right and wrong. Holidays were always often wonderful Family get togethers!
Betty and Bill traveled in their RV 3 different times around the United State. They spent summers at Coos Bay or Florence Oregan, British Columbia, or at Pismo Beach. Really enjoyed meeting all the different people. They would call home and talk to Family members once a week for updates.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers; her sister; and her grands
