Carol Jean Massey (White), born on February 7, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024, in Fresno, California at the age of 80. Carol was a beloved elementary school teacher, who dedicated many years to nurturing young minds in kindergarten and second grade. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom as she served as the President of the Fresno Teachers Association, advocating passionately for her colleagues and the educational field.
Carol was known for her independent, caring, loving, hardworking, and witty personality. She enjoyed traveling, reading, solving puzzles, and spending quality time with her family. Carol was also a devoted fan of the Fresno Grizzlies baseball games and she rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorite team and players.
She graduated from Porterville Union High School and furthered her education at California State University of Chico, which paved the way for her successful career in education.
Carol is survived by her daughter Jodi and son-in-law Tom Galdos, daughter Roxi and son-in- law Darren Slakey; and grandchildren Gage and Kinley Galdos, and Dylan and Sydney Slakey. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph W. White; mother, Pauline B. White: and her husband, Ronald F. Massey.
Carol’s life and legacy will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her, as she left an indelible mark on her community and the many lives she touched.
