Born Carmen Celina Navarro, in Leon, Guanajuato, MX, this special lady was a quick to express her individuality, going by Celina and making her likes & dislikes well known. This was an early sign of her vigor, tenacity, and spunk that would shine throughout the years. She was raised in Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco, MX, which gave her a second soccer team to root for. She met her future husband, Ramiro, in Atoto, and they would go on to be married for nearly 62 years; which included moving to the USA, becoming a diehard Dodgers fan, and raising a family of five boys and a girl. She’s remembered for her 50 years of service to the church, unending love for her family, being a nina & comadre to many, 30 years of fighting cancer, being the life of the party with her singing and dancing, and being a hardcore sports fan - in her last days she would still proudly remind us, “arriba las Chivas!”
On Monday, August 9th, she spread her wings and left this world to rejoice in heaven with her oldest son (Hector), grandsons (Ramiro & Christopher), parents (Dolores & Esteban), sister (Graciela), and daughter-in-law (Lori). She’s missed dearly and will be forever cherished.
Celina is survived by her husband Ramiro Luna; sons Ramiro Jr, George, Jerry, and Marco; and daughter Melissa. Celina also leaves behind her granddaughters Danielle, Briana, Miranda, and Estrella, and her great granddaughter, Mya, to cherish her memory.
A rosary service will take place in the chapel at Lisle Funeral Home at 7 pm on Thursday, September 9. Mass will be officiated at Our Lady of Victory church on Friday, September 10, at 9 am. A reception will follow the mass.
