Clinton James Curry left us unexpectedly May 28, 2019 at the age of 46 not far from his lifelong home in Fresno, California. He made an early arrival on August 5th 1972, the second of two sons born to Michael and Susan Curry of Fresno, California.
He began making lasting friendships early on in life. Many of these friends graduated with him in 1990 from Central Union High School. As a boy he began racing karts and went on to build motors and design frames before having the opportunity to wrench on in the Craftsman truck series and eventually drive a stock car. His racing took him to many tracks and as far away as New York. At the track his circle of friends would continue to grow.
Clint was also skilled in diesel mechanics, paint and body work and later on programing and running a CNC machine to create custom off road wheels. Before having to medically retire he learned the trade of acoustic ceilings and yet again added to his ever growing group of friends.
As one of these friends has said, the greatest coming of age realization for him was what’s valuable can’t be purchased, and to treasure what’s intangible. Family, Friendship and Memories. He went on to say that Clint captured all three. Most valuable to him were his Friends and Family and he obviously he treasured the intangible- Memories. Clint and his wife Cindy’s 4th of July parties with noisy kids in the pool, sending up model rockets, blowing up drums, setting off fireworks, food and most importantly friends and family were a reason to get together and create memories. This event was something Clint truly enjoyed hosting and was already preparing for this year.
Clint and Cindy made a great team. She was there to help him at the track in the pits and kept the race teams fed. He would put up a short protest when she brought home a new animal but then go to work building a fence or pen or whatever she needed. During his racing days he was once asked if he was taking home a trophy to which he responded by gesturing towards Cindy and saying “that one over there”. Together they fought hard to maintain his health over the past 11 years and to keep him off of the heart and lung transplant list.
He was so excited when they found out they were expecting that he shared the news with everyone he came across! He enjoyed sharing the racing experience with Nicholas once he was old enough to drive his own kart. And at the track once again he reconnected with old friends and gained many new friends.
If you were once his friend you were always his friend. There are many stories being told of Clint coming to the rescue of friends in need. He had a unique relationship with each person in his life and would do all he could for each and everyone.
Clint was a lifelong Steelers fan and was able to take a trip back to Pittsburgh to attend a home game last fall with Cindy and Nick. They had the vacation of a lifetime together during which they made many treasured memories. He enjoyed time spent landscaping and tending to their yard in which he had planted some 30 trees and created a parklike setting. Clint was a fan of music with the Dave Matthews band being his favorite. He and Cindy made road trips to attend his concerts over the years.
Clint was preceded in death by his Mom, Susan Curry of Sanger, Uncle, Jay Curry of Fresno, Uncle, Gus Olsen of Fortuna, California. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Curry, Son, Nicholas James Curry, Father, Michael Curry, Brother, Ryan Curry, nephews, Wil, Max, Carter & Nolan, niece, Grace all of Fresno, Aunt Nina Olsen of Fortuna, and numerous cousins, Mother in law Leida Crumb of Kerman, Sister in law Tammy Barrett, Brother in law, David Barrett, nephew, Wyatt and niece Morgan all of Kerman, many close friends and his loyal German Shepherd Bomber.
