Conrad "Connie" Bruce Sanborn, a beloved soul known for his humor and devotion, entered into the arms of his Savior on January 3, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on July 23, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri, Connie graduated from Fresno High School and pursued his love for mathematics, earning a degree from Fresno State and a Master's from San Diego State. While Connie was attending Fresno High School, he played baseball in the 1957 hall of fame team.
Connie's true passion was teaching; he cherished his career and the opportunity to work with kids. He began his journey at Kings Canyon Middle School before moving on to McLane High School, dedicating 39 years to the profession he adored. His career ended sooner than expected because of heart surgery, a personal sorrow for him.
Connie was a devoted and caring husband to his beloved wife, Donna, for 62 years, consistently by her side with helping hands. He is dearly missed by his family whom he loved deeply, especially as a supportive coach for his children’s teams in their youth. Connie extended his warmth to everyone in his life, including his students, players, and coworkers.
A man of faith, he began a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) group at McLane. He opened his heart to each student, guiding many to embrace Jesus. Special gratitude is extended to a former student for generously providing pizza for those gatherings, ultimately supporting the girls team and sending many softball girls to the FCA camp. Connie and Donna cherished their time as football game announcers, united in their journey.
Ever celebrated for his comedic tales about his school days, Connie wished to be remembered as a staunch Christian, grateful to have led many to Jesus. Those comforted by faith believe he now reunites with those he helped lead towards salvation.
Connie is survived by his loving wife Donna D. Sanborn; his children, Kari Sanborn, Kelli Mori (Howard), and Michael Sanborn (Shayleen); grandchildren Daniel Mori (Brittany), Allison Reyes (Christian), Isaiah Sanborn, and Zoe Sanborn; and his cherished great-grandchildren Aya Mori and Hank Mori. Preceding him in death were his mother, Leta Blizzard, and his mother and father-in-law, Jess, and Cleo Watts.
A memorial service will be held at The Well Community Church - Fig Garden Campus, 4545 N Palm Ave, Fresno, on February 8, at 11:00 a.m.
It was the family's wish that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes with Pat Lynch at centralcalfca.org/madera-mariposa (Org# 24415A00), or Mount Hermon Christian Camp, P.O. Box 413, Mount Hermon, CA 95041.
Conrad "Connie" Bruce Sanborn rests, lovingly remembered and forever loved at Belmont Memorial Park, near the kind spirits he uplifted in life.
