DeAnna Jill Butler Huffman, age 55, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, surrounded by her husband and children. DeAnna was born April 19, 1969, in Texas City, Texas and was a resident of Fresno, CA. She graduated from Alvin High School in 1987. DeAnna is preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Darlene Butler.
DeAnna is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Shawn Anthony Huffman; daughter, Haleigh Abadiano and husband Aaron; and son, Jarrett Thomas Huffman; her father Carl Butler, sister, Kayse Butler Kocurek and husband Michael; and brother, Brandon Butler and wife Lori; grandson Bodi Abadiano; along with numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
DeAnna graduated from Stephen F Austin University with a degree in education. She was an educator for over 34 years, beginning her career in Angleton, Texas. She also taught in College Station, Texas, Round Rock, Texas then ended her career in Fresno, CA. She loved teaching and loved working with the kids.
DeAnna had an infectious smile and contagious laugh. Always the go with the flow unless you crossed the Princess, oh yeah, that was her nickname… Princess. Rightly fitting if you really knew her. She loved her family. She loved spending time with her husband, traveling and enjoying going to Seattle to games or just hanging out at the house (she’d read while he watched football). DeAnna enjoyed doing things for her kids, grandson, nieces and nephews and her great nephews.
DeAnna loved to travel. She managed to see almost all the United States including several trips to Hawaii. She planned several trips to Cabo and a few trips to Costa Rica. These trips were either with her family or with her “girls” aka “The Salty Heifers”. She loved trips with her “Salty Heifers”, seeing New York, Vegas, New England, Napa Valley and most recently Hawaii. She loved to surprise them on these trips marking off a bucket list item. For instant the hot air balloon ride over Napa Valley. When you traveled with DeAnna there was always a jammed packed itinerary so there were never any dull moments. If you were lucky enough to have traveled with her, you just know. You know you are on an adventure.
A funeral service will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Chapel on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 4:00 pm. All are welcome to come and join us in Celebrating the life of DeAnna.
