Docia grew up in Los Banos and Dos Palos, and her books about the history of the area can be found in the Merced County Historical Society. History was her passion, and for the last 40 years she lived in and restored a beautiful historical home in downtown Fresno near Community Hospital.
She was feisty but loving and had a wonderfully rich life. In the early 1960's she lived in Monrovia, Liberia, worked for the Liberian Red Cross, and raised orphaned chimpanzees. Docia was a teacher for Fresno Unified School District for 40 years. She taught pregnant 7th and 8th grade girls the 3 R's and life skills to help them better care for themselves and their babies. Many of these girls graduated from college and have successful lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Metie (Gregory) Robinson; her son Jonathan Blood; granddaughter Mary Siegfried; sister Dorothy (Robinson) Klein; and brother Clark Robinson.
Docia is survived by her daughter, Jane Blood-Siegfried of Durham, NC; grandson, Gregory Siegfried of Durham, NC; and her granddaughter, Katharyn Siegfried of Charleston, SC.
Docia will be inurned at Mission Memorial Park Cemetery in Seaside, CA.
In lieu of a service, family and close friends will gather for a private celebration of her life.
