My father was a kind, soft spoken, hard working man. He was always at work to provide for
his family and on weekends we were blessed, as a family, to have mountain cabins to enjoy
in the Shaver Lake area. I shared in his passion for automobiles and, like life is a circle, his
1962 Red Corvette began his professional career after pharmacy school and ended with his
2017 White Z06 Corvette 3 months prior to his "being with the LORD". My single greatest joy
is that he was saved and gave his heart, mind and soul to the LORD and now has eternal life
with Him. Amen! Prayerfully, I will be united with him again, one day, in Heaven, Love, his
son Eric.

Dearest Nona & Family,

Doug was such a considerate person, who was always there to help.   His encouragement followed many of us through those early years,  at the old St. Agnes.   His leadership in the pharmacy,  reflected his spirit of life.   Doug was very much a gentleman, whose values he shared.   Thank you Nona, for all your support, and giving through all those pharmacy years!   I am one touched by knowing Doug for all of my adult life.   He was a genuine mentor.  He loved sharing his pictures of his family and cars through all the years.   There will always be a special place in my heart for all the memories. Dear Scheid Family,
What childhood/N. 4th memory do I have that didn't include the Scheid family in some way?  What a blessing it was to grow up next door to your family, which was like a second family to all of us.   One memory I have of our Dads, was riding to the top of the street on our bikes and waiting for our Dads to come home from a long day at work.  I remember well, Mr. Scheid in his old light blue car, rounding the corner and leaning into the turn as he headed "down the hill" to home.  We usually got a wave or a nod as our Dads returned home.  I also remember him polishing his sparkly boat on the weekends.  I always wondered why we didn't have a sparkly boat too?  Our was just plain blue and white.  I was always fond of that boat. 
 I remember the sound of Mr. Scheid's strong and distinct voice as well.    We had so much fun in those growing up years.  I will always treasure those times, and will be grateful for your family in my life.                         
You have all been in my prayers as you deal your sudden loss.  I'm so grateful that we will all be reunited in heaven one day.  May God hold each one of you close as you miss your dear Father and Husband.

Dear Nona and Family

Our hearts and prayers continue to be with you. What fond memories we have of our periodic "inspections" of the old farm property on First & Shaw, and of spending some time with you at Shaver Lake. What fun!

Doug had such a loving, caring and kind heart. He had a gentleness and a twinkle in his eyes that brought smiles when in his presence.

We cherish the many times at St. Agnes when Doug would show genuine interest in family that we had in in the hospital. He brought peace and hope to us each time.

Doug touched many lives and made many memories. God has called him home now and into eternal life in heaven.

What a beautiful man Doug was. He will be missed here on earth. Just know that he brought glory to God in how he lived his life.

Dear Sweet Scheid Family,
We were so blessed to have a family like yours living next door to us while we children grew up together.  We had so much in common and so much fun together.  I loved looking through all of the wonderful pictures you posted here, as it brought back cherished memories.  
Our families seemed to share the same passion for water activities including swimming and water skiing.  I have very fond memories of us swimming together and laying out in our backyard for hours on end.  I loved seeing the photo of Doug's ski boat.  It brought back memories of him out in your driveway giving the boat a thorough tune up before taking it up to launch in the lake.  I remember the engine running and how loud it was and thinking how afraid I would be to ski behind it as it was so powerful.  Your dad took great care of his toys and loved sharing them with his family and friends.  I guess he liked speed - thinking about his corvettes and his ski boat!  I have no doubt he will find similar and fulfilling activities in heaven.  May peace be with you all as you reflect on the wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend Doug was and that he is now with Jesus.  I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.  Much love and big hugs sent to you all!  


Our prayers are with you at this sad time for you. We hope that you will be filled with many warm memories of Doug. We have fond memories of you and your young family living across the way from us as we began our married life. We loved seeing you with your children. You were great neighbors if only for a short time. May God grant you His peace and presence during this time. 

Dear Nona
I have so many memories living as next door neighbors on North Fourth Street!  What a great place to raise our children who grew up together.
One memory of your dear Doug was when we went on vacation, we told you to use our pool. So Doug simply took a few boards off of the fence and you could come through and use the pool anytime. He saved a few steps and did not have to go out front and come in the locked gate! We loved our time water skiing together at Shaver Lake and staying at the cabin.  Doug had such a dry sense of humor, loved his stories.  It was a delight living next door to you.  We could always borrow from you and you did the same.  Remember our dog Wags and your cat Samantha would always sleep in Wag's dog bed together, they were quite a pair!
We will miss you Doug........ wait for us..... we will see you again in Eternity.  Love Sharon

We first met Doug and Nona when we moved into the neighborhood on North Fourth Street in the 1960's.  We quickly appreciated Doug and Nona as next door neighbors, along with their two children Eric and Karin.  We enjoyed visiting with them and sharing stories about Fresno, schools and life in general.  Doug had an interest in cars and boats and loved to spend time with his family at Shaver Lake in their cabin.  Our families seemed to coincide and we always felt that Doug and Nona were faithful friends, enjoying the same activities that we did.  We appreciated the fact that Doug became a Christian and shared his faith and strong family values.  His friendship and loving nature will certainly be missed.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Nona & the Scheid family.  We loved Doug; not only as a friend and colleague, but as the true gentleman that he was.
We will miss you dear friend.
