Eleanor Louise (Rusconi) Wofford passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on August 29, 2025 in Carmichael, California at the age of 100. Eleanor was born on March 4,1925 in Fresno, California to her beloved parents Ruth (Summers) Rusconi and Alphonso (aka Paul) Rusconi. Growing up, Eleanor often enjoyed fishing with her father and spending time with her sister Margaret and her neighborhood friends, Eva, Eda and Doris Flake. After graduating from Fresno High School in 1943, Eleanor attended Fresno State College and Central California Commercial College. During World War II she was a “Rosie the Riveter” at an ice rink that had been converted to subassembly plant and she and her sister Margaret often brought soldier boys home for a home-cooked meal prepared by their mother Ruth. Following that she worked for the Industrial Indemnity Insurance Company. Soon after the end of the war she met and fell in love with Perry E. Wofford who had recently returned from serving in Great Britain and married him on January 17, 1949. She was a devoted wife and mother to her three children; Paul, Michael and Pamela and served as an assistant Girl Scout troop leader for several years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and the family dog, Elmer. Eleanor, Perry, and Elmer moved to Huntington Beach in 1977. After Perry’s passing in 1980, Eleanor enjoyed traveling, golfing and going to movies with her friends in Southern California and taking walks down the pier in Huntington Beach and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She traveled widely to the United Kingdom, Europe, Central America and Mexico and in the United States. In 2014 she moved to Sacramento to be closer to her children. In 2021 she moved into Oakmont of Carmichael Assisted Living and Memory Care. Eleanor is survived by her three children: Paul Wofford, Michael Wofford, and Pamela Wofford; and three grandchildren David Wofford, Andreas Wofford, and Michael Hunter-Wofford. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Perry and sister Margaret (Rusconi) Betts.
