Evaristo is survived by their son Mike Lopez (Wife Adzminda); their son Randy Lopez (Wife Carmen); their daughter Mary Lopez Mathews; their son Guy Lopez; their son Wayne Lopez (Wife Bonnie); their daughter Pauline Lopez; their daughter Teresa Lopez Wright (Husband Terry); and their son Eddy Lopez (Wife Sarah).
Evaristo was preceded in death by their daughter Luwanna Lopez Brady, their daughter Roanna Lopez Hogue, their daughter Rita Lopez and their daughter Barbara Lopez.
Evaristo Lopez was born a poor son of a farmer and had little formal education but rose far in achievements and respect. A humble man who loved family, hard work, and playing guitar. Despite his elementary education he was a deep thinker and stayed that way until his passing one month short of his 95th birthday.
Evaristo (Ed) Lopez was born in a small town of Ecleto, Texas on Oct 16, 1926. Father was Marcelino, mother was Bonefacia. It was a poor upbringing of sharecropper farming. His schooling was always interrupted by the demands of the seasonal work. His sister Maria "babied" him as a child and gave him small hard to come by food treats as well as pick some of his cotton quota. As a teen he learned some auto mechanics from his older brother Pedro (Pete).
Seeking a richer life he migrated to Montana with migrant workers for seasonal work and found his way to better pay in the construction trades.
Always the hard worker he eventually chose cement finishing as a full time occupation that perhaps lasted 5 to 8 years. He then changed and became proficient at interior and exterior plastering and despite his limited education was elected business agent of his union for a years time.
He meets and marries Marvel Untersher and they start a family that through time becomes 12 children - 5 boys and 7 girls. Eventually they live in Santa Barbara and then San Jose as they raise all the children.
Again he changes his trade to Drywall Taping and Texturing in the late 1960's and finds strong success. He is known as the best of the shop in his ability to exceed quotas, production and quality and passes on the trade to all five sons who also excel above their peers. This was a very prideful accomplishment that kept him employed until his retirement at the age of 56. Along the way he remarried to Barbara Robertson who was a long part of his life and also worked alongside him in the drywall trades.
He helped all of his children whether it was mechanical, moving, restoration of a home, or practical advice. Quite a feat for one child let alone twelve. Moving to Fresno to spend time with brother Pedro and his family as well as some of Evaristo's children he began to purchase lowly fixer uppers and renovate them for rental income using skills of his many years in construction to do nearly all trades. Such was his life until Barbara's passing.
Evaristo never lost his love for Marvel nor Marvel for Evaristo "Abbie". Now in his twilight years he and Marvel rekindled a lost love that was a joy to see and brought renewed pleasure not only to them but happiness to their children as well. Spending much time together they once again were able to live together. This however was short lived.
Evaristo began a decline in health that required constant care. Time moves him to the care of four different children, Mike, Wayne, Mary and Eddy where he succumbs to internal organ failure due to old age on September 12, 2021.
The last words he heard on this Earth were " I Love You, Dad". Spoken by his youngest and loving son Eddy. He fell asleep and passed shortly thereafter.
A loving Husband and Father. Forever remembered by all.
