Evelyn Doris Graves

Evelyn was born September 29, 1935 in Schenectady, New York. Evelyn is preceded in death by husband Herman Graves, parents Nelson Carter & Rebecca Kinne and son Richard Freitas.

Devoted mother of Richard Freitas, Janet Freitas Sall, Mary Ann Spaletta and Diane Freitas.

Devoted mother-in-law of Robert Spaletta and Leticia Freitas.

Devoted Grandmother of Kennda Etzkin (Jason), Jennifer Freitas, Rachel Freitas, Christopher Freitas (Kelly), Domenica Coronado, Jessica Manuel (Justin) Samantha Dion (Olivia), Robert Leach Jr., Daniella Coronado, David Sall, Kristen Alvarez and Rudy Coronado Jr.

Devoted Great-Grandmother of Jasmine Leark (Justin), Ethan Croley, Aydin Urbat, Ohev Etzkin, Eric Etzkin, Zoie Etzkin, Michael Freitas, Alyssa Freitas, Jace Manuel, Jazlene Manuel and Great-Great-Grandmother of Vaida Leark.

Also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. A graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School, Class of 1953. After high school, Evelyn became a Practical Nurse in New York, and moved to San Jose, California after meeting husband Clarence “Duke” Freitas in 1956. In 1987, Evelyn married Herman Graves and resided in Campbell, CA until moving to Clovis, CA in August of 2020. Evelyn was very involved in her church in Clear Lake Oaks and Campbell. Evelyn loved crafts and baking. Every summer, she would bake Zucchini Bread from the zucchini in her garden and made sure to share plenty with all of us.

Always one to put others first, in her final days, when asked what advice she would like to share, she said “Family first, just be yourself.”
