Everett, lovingly known by all as Butch, was born in French Camp, California on August 18, 1957, to Everett Sr. and Martha Cook. He passed away on December 22, 2025. He was a loving brother, uncle, and friend whose warmth, humor, and generosity touched everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ronald and John Sr. He is survived by brother Donald Cook (Jackie); sister Janice (Bobby); sister-in-law Desiree; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A longtime resident of Easton, Butch attended American Union and Washington Union. His talent for fixing things began at an early age. Growing up in a house full of rambunctious siblings meant something was usually broken. From patching walls to other miscellaneous house repairs, he learned by necessity. As his skills and mechanical knowledge grew, he became a mechanic by trade. Ironically, his own truck was often held together with duct tape and determination. Even after this chapter of his life ended, Butch proudly remained a trusted mechanic and handyman to many.
Although his nickname was Butch, to us he was also known as “MacGyver.” He was notorious for the phrase “I can fix it”. Sometimes his repairs were lasting, other times they lasted five minutes. And if he couldn’t fix it, he could almost always rig it into a state of “good enough,” proving that some confidence, creativity, and sheer will could solve just about anything.
It was impossible to be in a bad mood around Butch. His personality and goofy spirit could make anyone smile. Whether through a corny joke or some off-the-wall antics, he was almost guaranteed to make you laugh and remind you not to take life too seriously.
Family was everything to Butch. No matter the time of day, he would drop whatever he was doing to help someone in need. Be it car trouble, a dripping faucet, or a clogged toilet due to a kid trying to flush a ball, he was always there. In Martha’s final years Butch helped care for her.
After she broke her hip, he remodeled parts of her home to make it safer and easier for her to move around. Whatever she needed to be more comfortable he did without hesitation.
Butch will be deeply missed. He will be remembered for his kindness, his caring spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
