Mom, thinking of you and all the good times we shared.  I love you....

Mom....its been a  month since you left us.  I miss our talks, the sound of your voice, and the way you always laughed when we were being silly.  Please give Daddy a kiss for me....I love you both so much.

Mom loved her family, they were the most important part of her life and she always enjoyed cooking big Christmas meals for us.  She made the best chicken and dumplings ever.  Mark and Leah both gave it a try, but theirs were no match for Mom’s.  Same with her carrot cake....still the best I have ever tasted.

In later years, Mom developed dementia.  It was a slow process, so we made sure to spend as much time with her as possible.  She loved going on trips, she enjoyed the beach, riding around checking out all the sights, lunches with family and friends, hanging out with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.  Thank you Leah for always being here for Mom and for me.  Cheeseburgers became Moms food of choice, so we spent many a Sunday afternoon sitting on the patio at Irene’s, where she would watch the people go by and play games with Kassandra.  Out of all of us....Kassandra became her favorite.  Mom developed “sticky fingers”.  After the COVID lockdown....I would FaceTime her, she would have several stuffed animals she had picked up, she was saving them for Kassandra.  Thanks to our friends that share your time with Mom....you know she loved spending time with you.  The minute I mentioned Terri....Mom knew exactly who I was talking about.  Annette, you will always have a special place in Mom’s heart.  Loni, Mom thought the world of you and your Jay.

Dad and Mom had 56 years together before we lost Daddy....Mom’s life would never be the same.  Daddy truly was her soulmate and the love of her life.  I know she is where she belongs, next to Daddy, sharing a burger and waiting for a song to dance to.....continuing their forever love story.

What can I say, having you as my Mom made me the luckiest girl ever.  You taught me to always enjoy life and to be the best I could be.  You taught me to respect myself, standup for myself, and to always be me.  I will miss you forever.

Mom met Daddy after both families had moved from Oklahoma and settled in Kern County, California.  They fell in love immediately and decided they wanted to get married, even though Mom was only 14.  I have always known they married in Las Vegas, but it wasn’t until I was working on my application for the Daughters of the American Revolution, and had to get a copy of their marriage license I found out....Mom had lied about her age, saying she was 16, so they could marry.   

Growing up with parents so young, we basically grew up together.  Some of my favorite times were playing cards, dominos, and boardgames.  When the weather was nice....we would be outside playing softball and running around the yard.

Loved our summers, we would drive to Washington with relatives from Mom’s side, where we would pick cherries.  We lived in a giant tent, I remember laughing at Mom when I would catch her sweeping the dirt floors....she hated anything being dirty.  After a few weeks in Washington, we would head home to repack and then we were off to Oklahoma for a month, to visit both sides of the family.  Mom loved all the potluck get-togethers....she was also the one everyone wanted to sit by and talk to.  Mom never met a stranger and loved talking to everyone, one more thing I inherited from her.  




My great grandmother and I. She loved to be apart of all of my school activities growing up. I always felt so special pulling up to school in her red T-bird. I am so happy I was able to grow up with such an amazing grandmother. She will be missed! ❤️

The Coberlys were down the street neighbors for years. My brother used to stop at their house to talk cars with Jay.  I still can see Louise driving down our street in her hot red car.  Later in years I spent special time with her when she needed. She loved getting out for awhile, eating out and going shopping. She knew the Lord and would gladly share, with many stories to tell.

Dad and Mom, always the perfect couple....together again.

Mom, my heart is shattered beyond belief....I will miss you everyday, until I see you again.  My only peace is knowing you are with Daddy again.  

Louise is survived by her daughter, Doris Ann Swaim and her husband Mark. Two sons, Steven Coberly and his wife Janell, and Roger Coberly. Four grandchildren, Wayne Whitaker, Leah Whitaker, Sarah Coberly, and Mike Coberly. Seven Great-Grandchildren, and two Great-Great Grandchildren.


Louise was preceded in death by Floran Jay Coberly, her soulmate and the love of her life. Her parents Walter and Bertha Rowland, her brother Albert and sister Lois.
