Franklin Wayne Scharton

2 abril, 1934 – 22 julio, 2025
Obituario de Franklin Wayne Scharton
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home

It is with sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Franklin Wayne Scharton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, neighbor, and respected community leader. Frank passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025 in Fresno, California.

Even though he was a quiet man, he always loved to be at the party, enjoying the vitality of the world around him. His friends from Roosevelt High School will remember him for his black ’56 Chevy coupe, basketball, and for winning his class trophy for science and mathematics. Upon graduating from Fresno State he received an offer to work at a San Francisco CPA firm…and his induction notice from the U.S. Army.

In the 1960’s he joined Mr. McCallum as a CPA. He married Martie Scharton and his life was forever changed. The phrase “never a dull moment” took on a whole new meaning. Bowling leagues at Cedar Lanes gave way to three kids, dance parties, and oh so many tax seasons.

Frank was a great dad who is deeply loved and respected by his three children and six grandchildren (who named him Daddad), and his 5 great grandchildren.

He will forever be remembered with a smile. The image of him walking down Locust to the Gorman’s house pulling Derek’s wagon full of Coors, wearing shorts, dark socks and an orange frayed hat is forever burned into our memories.

He served the Fresno community with honesty and professionalism for many years and earned the respect of all who worked with him. Frank was a proud and long-standing member of the Exchange Club. His leadership and commitment to service left a lasting impact on the Fresno community he loved so deeply.

Above all, Franklin was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Martha “Martie” Scharton, and their three children:

– Craig Scharton, of Charlotte, North Carolina

– Kristin Echols, of Worley, Idaho, and her husband Shawn Echols

– Derek Scharton, of Fresno, California, and his wife Jamie Scharton

He was a cherished grandfather to Cole (Amanda), Eric (Cristina), Stephanie, Connor (Olivia), Hailey, and Daniel, and a proud great-grandfather to Malcolm, Gwen, Clark, Emmett, and Violet.

Frank is survived by his sister Arline Segale, of Santa Barbara and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Franklin’s memory to the Kirkland Foundation (Kirkland.org). Frank loved his cat Annie (who misses him very much). She was rescued through this wonderful organization.

Franklin Wayne Scharton leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and a life well lived in his hometown of Fresno, CA.
