Fumie Miyoko Honda

Known to everyone as Miyo, the longtime Fowler resident passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends at the Vintage Gardens Assisted Living Center in Fresno, at the age of 92.

Miyo will be fondly remember for her generous and caring nature devoting many years as a Girl Scout Leader, Jr., YBA advisor, and Dharma School teacher for over 50 years. She enjoyed Ballroom dancing, and loved organizing and leading extended trips throughout the world with her friends.

Miyo is survived by her husband Harry, and three children, Craig (Tayoko) Honda, Laureen (David Uyematsu) and Lynn (Mitchell Nakashima). A third daughter Becky passed away in 1979, eight grandchildren Ryan Uyematsu and fiancee April, Jared (Alina) Nakashima, Greg Uyematsu, Derek (Yim) Honda, Stacey Nakashima, Travis Honda and fiancee Leslie, Blake and Rex Honda, two brothers George (Miya) Tanaka, Jack Tanaka, one sisters Jane Nagata and many extended family members.

Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Buddhist Church of Fowler, 210 South Ninth Street in Fowler.
