George Billing Williams III

George Billing Williams III went to be with his Lord on January 30, 2020. He was born in Flint, Michigan, on June 17, 1952 to George and Dorothy Williams. He was their fourth child in a family of seven children.

Due to birth trauma, he was developmentally delayed, but he enjoyed many activities as a child, playing with his siblings, and attending Lewis Elementary School in Flint, where he learned to read and write. He loved animals, playing outdoors in the snow and listening to music on a small record player.

His family moved to Fresno, California in 1960 to be closer to relatives. He attended special education classes at Dailey Elementary, Wawona Jr. High, and Fresno High School. After high school, he worked in several sheltered jobs, attending Kelso Village, and Duncan Ceramics.

He also attended Northwest Church in Fresno, Valley Christian Center, and Breaking Free Revival Center. He loved Jesus with all his heart and especially gospel music of all kinds. He loved singing with his family, remembering many lyrics, and his special favorites singers were James Brown, Ray Charles and Elvis.

He also loved any social occasion.

George was known for his friendly smile and sweet nature. The family will always be grateful to many family friends who loved him and also to Pacific Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the great love they had for him in the last years of his life.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Dorothy Williams, and his baby sister Susan Williams. He is survived by his siblings, Gary Williams (Joan), Salinas, CA; Kitty Mumford (Marshall), Tulare, CA; Richard Williams (Jane), Novato, CA; Ted Williams, Fresno, CA; Martha Florez (Charles), Fresno, CA, and Andrew Williams (Tasja), Talkeetna, Ak He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

A Celebration of Life will be held February 15, 2020, 1:00 p.m. at Lisle Funeral Home, 1605 L Street, Fresno, CA in the Calaveras Chapel. Reception will follow at 4350 No. Delno, Fresno, CA.
