Georgia was born May 14, 1930 in Fresno, CA. She attended Malaga Elementary School, Fowler High School and Fresno State College. During her college years Georgia lived in Baker Hall with girls who quickly became lifelong friends. She also joined the Delta Zeta Sorority where she was an active member for many years. In 1949, Georgia met college co-ed, Bill Cucuk who turned out to be the love of her life. Both she and Bill graduated in 1951 and married soon after on July 14, 1951. Georgia immediately began her teaching career with Fresno Unified School District.
In 1955, Georgia and Bill bought a ranch in the Lone Star area. At that time, Georgia took a brief time out from teaching to assist with the farm and raise their 3 children. Eventually, Georgia returned to teaching in the Sanger Unified School District. She taught 1st and 2nd grades at Taft Elementary, Jackson Elementary and finally at Lone Star Elementary. Georgia loved teaching and her students knew Mrs. Cucuk loved them. After teaching for 25 years, Georgia retired. Her last 2nd grade class was very special to her. In fact it was so special, she hosted a ten year reunion for them. She was delighted that nearly all were able to attend. One student came all the way from Texas.
Georgia may have retired yet she continued to teach as a substitute and also as a volunteer reading specialist at John Wash Elementary School. She also headed up a Sunday School Program for our St. Peter's Church. She taught Sunday School and served as the Sunday School Superintendent for 20 years. In addition to teaching Sunday School, Georgia was an active member and one time president of St. Peter's Mothers' Club. She enjoyed cooking and planning events with all the lovely ladies at church. You could always count on Georgia to set 2 or 3 beautifully themed tables for the annual "Fancy Luncheon".
Georgia was always busy, but never too busy for her children and grandchildren. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Georgia encouraged, supported and loved unconditionally. She loved living on the ranch. When the grandchildren visited, she would take them on long walks down the avenues pointing out lizards, coyote footprints, snakes and cottontails. Following these walks, the kids loved to cuddle up alongside her to hear her read a favorite story.
Georgia always put others first. She served others in so many ways and always with a lovely smile and warm embrace. She truly enjoyed her life with family, work, and friends.
Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, Audi and Genevieve Rogers; and daughter, Debra Lombard.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill; sister, Pauline Adams of Salem, South Carolina; sister in-law Barbara Cucuk; son in-law, Steve Lombard of Palos Verdes Estates, CA; daughter Nancy Penny and her husband Tim; son David Cucuk and his wife Marsha, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many, many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
