Gilbert was an accomplished musician at an early age. He attended the U.S. Navy School of Music and performed with the Navy Band. He also toured with the Les Elgart and Les Brown Bands during the big band era.
He later became a studio musician and performed with artists including Sammy Davis Jr, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra. After Bells Palsey ended his music career at 32, he went into sales. He also had a great love for politics, and was very involved in the Bay Area and locally after he moved to Fresno.
We will miss him dearly.
Gil is survived by his wife Elaine; daughter Cydnee; son Ray; and many cousins.
