The second of three children born to Ernest Blevins and Daisy (Rutenfluh) Blevins on November
17, 1940 at home in Lemoore, CA.
Jim graduated from Roosevelt High School in Fresno. After high school, he worked for PG&E for
seven years before finding his true passion as a firefighter. In 1970, Jim joined the Fresno City
Fire Department and retired as a captain in 2001 after 31 years of service.
While cruising the Fulton mall, Jim met the love of his life, Patricia (Wolf) Blevins and they were
married in 1964. They had two daughters, Kim and Cyndee. Jim and Pat were married 52 years
and enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their family. He especially adored his
grandchildren and never missed one of their events.
Jim had a ‘larger than life’ personality and was always the life of the party. His sharp wit and
sense of humor always ensured a fun time. He lived life to the fullest enjoying his numerous
hobbies and pastimes, including staying active and the outdoors. Some of his passions were
hunting, fishing, working out at the gym and walking his loyal dog Miles. Jim was an auto and
motorcycle enthusiast, collecting and riding both dirt and street motorcycles and classic cars. He
also enjoyed volunteering for several organizations related to helping victims affected from
tragedies caused by fire. His firefighter family knew him as ‘Cuz,’ and they meant the world to
him. Spending time with his ‘buddies’ was always a priority. Jim will be greatly missed!
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia (Wolf) Blevins, his parents Ernest and
Daisy Blevins, his son-in-law, Thomas West, and his nephew, Michael Obradovich.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his daughter, Kimberly Mulhern, and her
