Janet Ochinero Slakey

She was called to heaven on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.

Janet was raised in the Italian community of West Fresno. There she graduated from St. Alphonsus School, San Joaquin Memorial and Fresno City College. Janet was retired from the City of Fresno. Janet was involved in many organizations throughout her life. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Seniors Luncheon Group, Italian Catholic Federation Branch #417, and the St. Elia Committee.

Janet is remembered as a Godly woman, a loving mother, grandma, and friend.

Janet enjoyed being outside in her garden among her plants and flowers. She was a creative woman who enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Janet also enjoyed her fluffy cats throughout the years. Anyone who came to her house left with a full stomach because of the wonderful Italian meals she enjoyed preparing Janet was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant daughter Jennifer.

Janet is survived by her brother, Anthony Ochinero of San Jose; children, Jill Van Elswyk, Eric Slakey of San Jose, Darren Slakey and his wife Roxi; grandchildren, Nico McCracken, Dylan, and Sydney Slakey.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, December 4, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Friday,

December 5, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
