It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janice “Jan” Glynn Halliburton, a loving and vibrant presence in the lives of all who knew her. At the age of 81, Jan of Fresno, California, departed this world on November 15, 2024. Yet, we take great hope in the promise that she is now home with Jesus and will spend eternity in His loving presence.
Jan was born on March 22, 1943, in Brownsville, Tennessee, to W.G. Grammer and Jennie Grammer. She grew up in the small towns of Arp and Ripley with her younger sisters Linda and Sandra. Jan attended and graduated from Ripley High School, where she met the love of her life, Tom Halliburton. They married and started their family, beginning with their dachshund Bo and, later, their two children, Kelly and Chad.
Jan and Tom's journey together took them to various parts of the United States before they settled in Fresno. As a stay-at-home mom, Jan was always at the forefront of her children's lives, serving as a school, room mom, Girl Scout leader, and soccer mom. Jan's passion for life extended beyond her family. She was an avid tennis player and a member of the Sierra Sport and Racquet Club’s Ladies League, where she won several doubles tournaments.
Alongside Tom, Jan co-founded and successfully operated Environmental Pest Control, which later grew into Paramount Pest Control for 42 years. After Tom's passing, Jan continued to run the company with remarkable strength and resilience until her retirement in May 2023. Her legacy in the business world is a testament to her hard work and determination.
In her retirement, Jan traveled and spent time with her family and friends. She was always up for an adventure! Jan cherished long lunches filled with laughter, shopping trips, and lively game nights, creating moments treasured by all who knew and loved her. She was known for her huge heart and selfless nature, but she was also known to be spicy! She would let you have it with her Southern accent when necessary.
Jan’s greatest loves were God and her family. A follower of Jesus, Jan was most recently a part of Oakhouse Church, where her son is the pastor. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and decisions. Jan’s love for her family was unlimited. Her favorite times were spent with her kids and grandchildren. Her home, which she affectionately called her "bed and breakfast," was always filled with warmth, hospitality, and ‘sugar’. Grandma Toby was a legend within the Halliburton family and to everyone she met, leaving a lasting impact on all whose lives she touched.
Jan was predeceased by her husband, Tom Halliburton, and her parents, W.G. Grammer and Jennie Grammer. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Lee, Kelly’s husband, Daryl Lee, and their children, Jack-Thomas Lee, Abby Lee, and Claire Lee. She is also survived by her son, Chad Halliburton, his wife, Jenn Halliburton, and their children, Madeline Halliburton and Grant Halliburton. Additionally, she leaves behind her sisters, Linda Cole and Sandra Laney of Tennessee, and her niece, Lori Butler of Tennessee.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered support during this difficult time. Jan's legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her life will be celebrated and remembered by family and friends for years to come.
