after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
She was most proud of her children and their successes. A homemaker most of her life meant that you were treated to her fabulous cooking when visiting. There were always homemade tortillas and her tamales were exceptional. Mom never failed to offer you what was on her plate first, before she could enjoy her own meal. She wanted you to leave full and satisfied. Mom had a love for life and people. She could strike up a conversation with a total stranger and it was like they were lifelong friends. Mom was loved by all who had the opportunity to meet her. She made friends everywhere. She loved gardening, singing, the beach, going to local casinos, and loved traveling with family and friends. She dreamed of riding with storm chasers just once. Mom was an avid NASCAR and Formula 1 racing fan. She attended many races attired in her Dale Earnhardt or Michael Schumacher gear. She once even hitched a ride with a Dutch television crew at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, because she could. All she had to do was smile. Mom was a longtime Fresno State Football season ticket holder. She may not have totally understood the game, but she would root for the Bulldogs with gusto. Of course her attire was all Bulldog red. Mom had a very special relationship with her two year old great-grandson Kolton. They had a special way of communicating with each other that would bring them both the biggest smiles and kisses. We were blessed to witness it. "Enjoy Heaven Mom." Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Troncoso; her mother, Josephine Segura; brothers, Joe Montez, William Segura, and Johnny Segura; as well as nephews, Billy Segura, and Nathan Montez. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Katich and husband Randy; sons, David Troncoso and his wife Becky, and Joseph Troncoso III; grandchildren, Saramarie Emery and husband Ken, Randi Melissa Katich, Lisa and Joel Dickinson, Shauna and Jordan Christensen; great-grandchildren, Kolton and Aiden Emery, Kayden and Brynn Dickinson, and Blake and Dylan Christensen. The discovery of extended family in Texas and New Mexico in 2016 would have thrilled mom so much. She was able to be present for a large reunion in the Summer of 2016. She is also survived by siblings, Maria Elena Trejo, Sabino Segura, Maria Salome Segura, Maria Guadalupe Porras, Ruth Maria Segura, and their families. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Helen's Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Belmont Memorial Park.
