My father-in-law, John, loved  mom, his family and life.  His quick wit (sometimes colorful), always put a smile on the faces around him. John was a common-sense, tea-party type rebel (like many of us in this family are). 
For me, he was not a huggy-type guy -- but, he was a dependable, dad, type guy -- someone I did not really have in my biological family life, even though my father is still living.
John was creative and smart -- he could fix (or jimmy-rig a temp fix) most things. He owned his own heating and cooling business in the past ; and it was in line with a final irony, that my husband, Dale  and my, heating system went out and mom's heating did too during the time of John's memorial. Both heating issues were addressed, but I found it a bit laughably funny that these heating systems would have issues just after the heating specialist passed on.  (LOL!)
It was good seeing so many people come to the memorial -- John was loved and appreciated by a great number, not limited to his family, but he had many, many friends. 
Big hugs and loving prayer for comfort to mom -- and to John's sister Sally and his brother Terry; and to Karl and Mona,   and kids and grandkids -- and to Barry and Denise, and kids and grandkids -- and to Wendy and her kids -- and to Paula  and her kids -- and to Penny and Teresa and their families -- and to my husband Dale and our family -- and to all the great neighbors and friends (too many to name here) who loved and appreciated having John in their lives!
I miss you, daddy John. I look forward to seeing you at the Big Family Reunion at Heaven's table.  

Johnny reminded me so much of his dad my uncle! He knew a little about everything and even if he didn't he wouldn't tell you. Our families kind of lost touch when our parents passed so i was so happy when i started Facebook 4 years ago and reconnected with John. LettiAnn are prayers are with you and the family!!

He also is survived by his step-children; Karl Johnson, Dale Johnson, Barry Johnson and Wendy Bratton, his siblings Sally Shelton and Terry Christoffersen, many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
