John E. Hanoian was born on August 2, 1931, the second child of Aznive and Peter Hanoian. John passed away on October 10, 2014. John was born in the warehouse of the old Hanoian's Market on Railroad and East Avenues in Fresno. He attended Calwa School and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He received his BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Fresno State, and went on to receive his Master's Degree from University of Southern California. In 1957, John married Loretta Jelladian, and they had two daughters, Anita and Lorie.
John had many passions in his life, aeronautic engineering being one of them. John worked for North American Aviation, which became Rockwell International, for 30 years. He retired from Rockwell, and then immediately was hired by Northrop Grumman, where he worked for the next 26 years. He loved his work, from the analysis, to making life long friendships with his co-workers. He took great pride in his work, and loved to tell stories about working on cool airplanes. John's most recent work was on the FA18 E&F model fighter, but he also contributed to the B1 bomber, the B2 Stealth bomber, the F117, and the Space Shuttles and Apollo moon rockets to name only a few.
John loved the arts, especially music. He enjoyed playing the violin, listening to classical music, attending operas, visiting art museums, and Armenian music and Armenian dancing. John enjoyed traveling, especially with his family, and became an experienced artist, working in oils.
John, we will miss your wisdom, work ethic, determination, and your gentle caring nature. But most of all, we will miss your jokes and sense of humor. May God hold you in His Grace. Until we meet again.
John is survived by his daughters, Anita Carrion and her husband Dan, and Lorie Hanoian; his brothers, Peter Hanoian III, Harvey Hanoian and his wife Nora; grandsons, Daniel and John Carrion; nieces Lenya Montoya and husband Tom, Ani Hanoian, Seta Hanoian, and Sossi Hanoian; three great nephews; many dear cousins; and close friends.
