

John Henry Salazar, 71, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, in Palo Alto, California. He was born on December 11, 1954, in Raymondville, Texas, where he learned early the values of hard work, perseverance, and dedication that would guide him throughout his life. Over the years, John made his home in Biola, Kerman, Fresno, Madera, and Hanford, ultimately settling in Fowler, California, where he spent his final years surrounded by family and community.
At the age of just seven, John began working the agricultural fields up and down California and in Washington, laboring alongside his family. These early years shaped his character and instilled in him a strong work ethic and resilience that he carried into adulthood. At nineteen, he began his career in the meat processing industry as a member of the overnight cleanup crew. Through determination, reliability, and leadership, John worked his way up to become a respected supervisor, ultimately building a remarkable 42-year career as a leader within the industry.
John was widely known for his integrity, fairness, and steady presence. He took great pride not only in his work, but in mentoring others and leading by example. His career stands as a testament to his perseverance and commitment.
Above all else, John was a devoted father, grandfather, and longtime partner to his fiancé. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Andrea Valadez, son-in-law Christopher Valadez, and his cherished grandchildren, Eliana and Mateo Valadez, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his fiancé, Rosalinda Sanchez, whose love and companionship brought him great comfort and joy. Another great joy in his life was his relationship with Oliver Lee, who he considered a grandson in every sense of the word.
John is further survived by his sisters, Evangelina Jauriqui and Olga Zuniga, as well as many nephews, nieces, extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Herminia Salazar; his brothers Antonio G, Joe, Ernest, and David Salazar; his sisters Juanita Martinez, Jessie Soto, and Rosemary Villanueva.
John will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering devotion to family, strong leadership, and a life defined by hard work, humility, and love. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the values he instilled, and the family he loved so fiercely.
A Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home, located at 1605 L Street, Fresno, CA 93721, on January 8, 2026, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A Prayer Service to follow directly thereafter at the same location, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
The Funeral Service will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 15437 W. Kearney Blvd, Kerman, CA 93630, on January 9, 2026, at 10:00am. Interment to follow to at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, 264 N. Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
