June Stevens, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and teacher, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and love. She was predeceased by her late husband, Haig Shekerjian, and leaves behind a family who cherished her dearly: her son, Rodger Stevens (Beverly); her daughter Melissa Reppert (James), grandchildren, Tristan and Ariana Stevens; brother, Dwaine Chambers (Linda); nephews, Dustin Chambers (Silvana) and Derek Chambers, along with Dustin and Silvana’s children, Devon and Sarah.
June was born in Ada, Oklahoma, and spent her early years in Selma, where she graduated from Selma High School. She went on to earn her degree in Social Studies with a minor in English from Fresno State University. June’s love of learning and education was a cornerstone of her life.
For 33 years, June dedicated herself to teaching 7th-grade Geography. As a member of the “BMWS” teaching team, she inspired countless students with her passion for the world’s cultures and histories. June’s dream was to see the places she taught about, and she made that dream a reality. Every summer for over a decade, she traveled to Europe as a chaperone, sharing unforgettable experiences with her students.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, June was a devoted Christian and a loving mother, touching the lives of everyone she met. Her faith and compassion were evident in all she did, making a profound and lasting impact on her family, friends, students, and community.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 30th, at 11:00 a.m. at Fresno Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in June’s honor to Evangel Home in Fresno (evangelhome.org), an organization that aligns with her values and commitment to helping others.
June lived her life with kindness, joy, and gratitude, finding beauty in the small moments and embracing every opportunity to make the world a better place. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
